Nutrition is a determinant in numerous aspects of health and well-being. Dawn Pittman, of the Western Regional School of Nursing (WRSON), is exploring how we can help improve nutrition among older adults in Western Newfoundland and throughout the province. It is work that is vital to understanding and addressing the health challenges that are facing a population that is aging and often geographically isolated.
Drs. Veronica Hutchings (Director of ARC) and Karen Doody tell us about the new Aging Research Centre, or ARC, that has just launched at Grenfell Campus and the role the centre will play in the future of Newfoundland and Labrador. We also hear a few words from the Honourable Lisa Dempster, Minister of Children, Seniors and Social Development with the Government of NL.
The Western Regional School of Nursing (WRSON) offers students a vital chance to practice and refine their skills. Gabrielle Deveau and Shelby Thomas, two nursing students, explain that WRSON is also a place where students and instructors conduct research. This ranges from research for class papers, to research aimed at understanding practical clinical settings.
